Anime for Summer 2013

The Summer season is close upon us so it is time to look at what might be some of the good ones to watch for the season. This is in no way a look at everything I will be watching, just the expectations I have for a few series.

First off, we have -yet another long named series- Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! (It’s Not My Fault That I’m Not Popular!) or Watamote! for short. I read the manga for this a while back. I really liked the manga for the story, but the style (layout of the chapters, not the art) for the manga made me less interested in it to the point where it has been a while since I last read it. But an anime sounds very interesting. It is definitely something to watch.

Kimi no Iru Machi
Next up, a very favorite manga of mine. I have been reading this manga weekly since chapter 10 came out. The manga created by Seo Kouji, author of Suzuka, has been one of my favorite manga artists. This time around, he took the story well past their high school days and pulled in plenty of drama along the way. Right now, the story looks to be in a state where I see no direct end in sight. The anime has a lot of material to work with so I wouldn’t count out this going for 24-26 episodes. Just getting through 150 chapters of the manga, unless they really go full speed skipping stuff, will take up 24 episodes of material; and they would still have another 82 chapters before they are caught up with the current chapter of 232.

Blood Lad
I do not know much about this series, but it does look very interesting. Stories about being thrown into demon worlds and the such just grab my attention. The premise that this story revolves around a vampire trying to bring a human back to life is very interesting. It is definitely going to be a series to watch out for this season.

There are a few other series I would like to give attention to as well

  • Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS
  • High School DxD New
  • Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi
  • Love Lab

These series are a few others that I plan to keep a close eye on for the summer season. They look promising and I know I will enjoy watching Ro-Kyu-Bu but they aren’t really series I can recommend unless they are your sort of genre.

As for carry over from spring, Attack on Titan and Railgun are still shining brightly. Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince has actually come out as a surprise to me. I almost dropped the series out of boredom and then picked it back up after a 7 episode gap and quickly found it to be quite interesting. For a full listing of what I will be watching, please see my MAL profile here. also, should I decide to watch something new and/or drop a series, it will update nearly instantly as soon as I decide.
