Amagami SS – 04

by noobiesnack on Jul.24, 2010, under Amagami, First Impression

Amagami - 04 Well, the final episode to the Haruka arc is over. I must say, the arc itself was enjoyable for the last two episodes, the 3rd one being the best. This last episode was not to bad itself, it is Christmas and its time for the couple to spend their first Christmas together. First step, asking to spend it together and being successful. Of course, be wary of side characters that will cause a side tracking. Must say though, I am looking forward to the next arc, even though I originally did not want an arc-like setup but I will live with it.

As mentioned in the Ookami-san episode 4 post, I find it strange how so many anime have so many ‘coincidental’ encounters. Haruka and Junichi having met once before and getting more of a reason to fall in love is one such example. While I don’t mind it to much, it is kind of getting old when something like this is suddenly thrown in close to the end.

Junichi trying to ask Haruka out was quite amusing. First he gets distracted by Miya, then he has to figure out a way to get away from her clutches to meet with Haruka. Then after he succeeds and goes to a gaming center, he has to deal with the fact that a machine says the two of them have very low compatibility. Leave it to Haruka to suddenly reveal she is part Caucasian and has a middle name of lovely, which when changed in the machine tells them they have a high compatibility. He finally realizes he has been distracted, and takes her up to a park where he asks her out. She says she cant and then invites him to her family’s party.

The pool was a lot of fun. It was a great moment when Junichi was so mesmerized by Haruka in a swimsuit. But that moment is nothing in comparison to when Junichi got so lost in thought that Haruka assumes he is staring at other girls and calls him out on it. Great moments indeed.

Haruka’s true nature is finally revealed. I think she completely lied about the family Christmas party just to get Junichi to go to a hotel and be alone together. Her coming out of the bath in just a towel and angry because he did not peek leaves me to wonder what would happen if he did peek.

Suddenly, we are thrown 10 years into the future. Haruka and Junichi are now married and it seems they live in their own world separated from everyone else and no one will ever understand it. I would also like to note neither one of them have changed and it brings back how crazily unfeasible something like this could happen in real life. Either way, it was a great ending to a great arc.

I am really curious as to how they are going to go about the next 5 arcs. If they spend 2 episodes introducing everyone, its going to get boring. Hopefully, they just start each arc with him falling in love with the appropriate girl and then go from there. I guess we get to see in a week. Also, the next arc seems to be the Tanamachi Kaoru arc. I look forward to it!

Hmm, I think this series will be quite boring from here on in (well Tsukasa will be interesting at least – but she’s last).

I loved Haruka’s arc. She seemed so fake to me when I was first introduced to her, but in the end I quite liked her. Not your typical popular girl. We also got an explanation as to why her eyes were blue (she’s one quarter caucasian)

The last episode was a bit forced but I loved it, this is my favorite series this season.

I was waiting for Junichi to say “I didn’t peek at you because you told me not to and I love you so much I didn’t want to make you upset and listened to you.”

Oh well, all worked out well.
Haruka needs her own series (lol, me and my fanboy self).
