Ookami-San – 04
by noobiesnack on Jul.24, 2010, under First Impression, Ookami-san
Apologies for the late post, I had do a lot of real life things to deal with on Friday, Thursday night storms kept me off the computer, and to top it off when I got home on Friday the power was out due to severe weather, which was not fun to drive in. I even go to see a funnel cloud in my rear view mirror on my way from Detroit. Fun times indeed. Anyway, if you haven’t noticed by the picture on the left, Ryouko’s obsession is revealed! Somehow, if I lived in Japan I could see myself doing something like that.
Well, we certainly get to learn something about Ryouko this episode. The fact that she loves romance novels and will disguise herself to go and get them is just priceless. Even more priceless, is when her roommate knows she’s doing it and calls her out in front of everyone on it. Ringo, you are a fearful loli, especially if last weeks episode meant anything. Time to shiver at the thought of the Little Red Ridding Hood of Doom from last week. *shiver*
We also get to see maids, yippee! Of course, there is a such thing as a maid that is to nice as Ryoushi found out the hard way. I find it funny that the Otogi bank does not request anything as a returned favor to their own kind. It does make one interesting episode when it is setup like that though. Also a word of advice, unless you look like a girl please do not wear a maid uniform. It ruins the fun of them being so awesome. Otsuu looks like a great maid, though I wonder who Ryoushi was staring at when everyone was wearing a maid uniform.
There is one thing that amazes me about anime, and that is how is everything just so coincidental. Things like Ryouko’s favorite novel writer being Ryoushi’s boarding house owner is one of them. However, it does make for some interesting things to occur when a tsundere that likes someone comes across a romance novel writer. The look on Ryouko’s face was just awesome when Yukime calls her out on being in love with Ryoushi and Ryouko not being able to deny it was almost too intense for me. Now, if the two could actually make some progress before the end of the next 8 episodes everything will be good.
I am still liking everything about Ookami-san, minus the god forsaken narrator. The story keeps me interested, especially because the romance side of it is not spending 10 episodes to work on a confession.

This seems like a sort of feel good anime, always a good side to something with heavy gore like High School of The Dead.
I’m sure everyone hates the narrator, she’s so uneeded.

It is not so much that she is uneeded, its she talks at pointless times stating what they are doing when we can clearly see that.
