High School of the Dead – 03

by noobiesnack on Jul.19, 2010, under First Impression, HSOTD, News

HSOTD - 03 Well, the guy I really, really hate has finally shown his ugly face. I think they made him even more unlikeable in this anime adaptation. He seriously has some problems and I find it just amazing how some people can be swayed by the words of idiots. Sound like a lot of Politicians anyone? On top of that, he only cares about himself so I would love to see how he will deal one on one with a zombie. I don’t see how in a realistic situation where this guy can live this long.

Manga Industry Moving Forward?

by noobiesnack on Jul.14, 2010, under Manga, News

Mangaindustry So far, everything has been still quiet on the action front for the most part. The only action that has been taken recently is the website MangaToshokan has been hit with a C&D (Cease and Desist) from what appears to be Yen Press and Tokyopop. DMP on the move

by noobiesnack on Jun.18, 2010, under News

Well, there is more news related to manga going on. It seems that Digital Manga Publishing CEO has told ANN that they “[intend] to establish a new online venture in which fans can provide “scanlations” of manga titles that would be distributed digitally and legally, with the permission of their Japanese owners. Their goal is to offer over a thousand to possibly thousands of manga titles. Only problem? The company has a focus in the ‘boys love’ but is wanting to get into more genres after getting started and then possible moving into novels. Basically, they told ANN that they are setting up a business model that will allow them, the Japanese publishers, manga-ka, and translators a cut of the digital sales. Revenue is expected to come from advertising and possible future anime or other form of adaptation.
