2014-07-15_23-32-10Crunchyroll has been around for quite some time now. But for the first time since it came into existence, I will not have to use other means to get my anime fix this season! An outstanding 16/18 of my series I plan to watch for the summer are on Crunchyroll with the remaining series available on Funimation. It may not be free but its very convenient to watch anime without having to fiddle with storage!
If I had to give complaints, my major complaints would have to be two things. First is the All-Access requirement to read manga. If I have an Anime Sub, why do I also need to pay for an All-Access sub that includes stuff that I do no want, such as Dramas? I simply do no like it. Second, the video player on the website is getting very dated. The player has many lag issues and a few weeks ago I had to submit a ticket only for the CR staff to simply say there was nothing they could do at the time and that

“we would like to let you know that issues you are encountering have been known, and we are actively working on multiple solutions to provide you a better streaming experience in the future. We are currently working to enhance our Flash Player, so as to remedy the playback problems described”.

I look forward to them hopefully fixing this issue once and for all so that I do no have to randomly deal with lag or sudden video stoppage. It is especially annoying when you have a 55mb/s download speed and suddenly videos are choppy / randomly stop to ‘buffer’. Otherwise, I highly recommend to those that can stream video to do so. Its a great way to give back to the industry and can even strike you some amazing deals on the Daily Deals!

It is that time again. I am a little late on this post, but that at least gave time for all the first episodes to air! This season should be a good one with some very good titles. There is pretty much an anime for everyone this summer including Yaoi (dear god… why…)

  • Upcoming Winter Anime Noteables

The winter season is going to be upon us soon. And with that, its time to look forward to the anime that airs. I am going to list a few of the noteable anime that I think will be the ones to keep an eye on and I suggest watching through at least a few episodes.

First up, I pick Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren. This is going to be a big one among the season if it turns out like anything like the first season. First up, we have the adorable Rikka and her antics. Add in the rest of the cast, and you get a moe love story. It at least has a story unlike other moe anime.

My next pick would have to be, another second season anime, Gin no Saji 2nd Season. The first season left a really good impression on me, mostly because of the story and a couple of really adorable characters. I highly recommend this anime for anyone who can stomach it.

Next up, my pick is Witch Craft Works. I have not in particular heard much about this anime, but I have heard good things about it. I am looking forward to seeing what JC Staff does with this one as I have always seen good stuff from JC.

My final pick will have to be Seitokai Yakuindomo *. A pure comedy anime with more sexual innuendo than plot. Not an anime meant for those who can’t take a joke and go with it. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys a great laugh to watch this anime. Because of the series’ episodic arcs, all you really need to do is watch the first episode of the first season and you should be good for the second season.

Other noteables: Mahou SensouSuper Sonico The Animation Nisekoi

  • Anime of Fall 2013

The season is entering the final few weeks and it is time to look at some of the anime that stand out for the season.

First up, Log Horizon. Personally my favorite of the season. I am very happy to say that this will continue into the winter season! It is a good balance of story and comedy. I highly recommend those who have not watched it but enjoyed others such as .HACK or SAO to watch it. You won’t be disappointed. The ending song by Yun* Chi is my favorite song of the season and possibly the entire year putting it right behind the ending song for Sunday without God.

Next up, Coppelion. The ending song and the overall plot really got me into this one. With the entirety of Tokyo a wasteland due to humans doing things they shouldn’t, it makes for a great show of survival and what humans can do. I will give it that it is an anime, but the things that occur could really happen. The ending song by Angela is amazing and is right behind Log Horizon for it. The Opening song is really good too.

As a final recommendation, I must point out the next installment of Little Busters under its name Little Busters:Refrain. The series has taken a much needed turn after being unbearable for a while. Sticking through the season will pay off near the end of the season. It is actually turning pretty dark and having not gone through the VN I did not have any expectations so this is quite surprising and has grabbed my attention for a #3 spot.

Other notable anime for the season: Kyoukai no Kanata. I also would like to point out this anime because it is very good and has great art with a very cute heroine. The story seems a little rugged, but its still noteworthy. I would also like to point out Kill la Kill as another great anime. I have not personally watched it but I have heard very good things and I have plans to watch it over the coming holiday break!

If you haven’t seen it already, you need to check out Yuyushiki. Its a comedy about 3 girls in the Data Processing Club. Its sort of like Lucky Star but with lots of great references to some crazy things. The characters are also great.
